One of the greatest man-made arts is located in Indonesia. This is named as Borobudur. It is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist monument near Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues.[1] A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa.
The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path circumambulating the monument while ascending to the top through the three levels of Buddhist cosmology, namely Kāmadhātu (the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the world of forms) and Arupadhatu (the world of formlessness). During the journey, the monument guides the pilgrims through a system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the walls and the balustrades.

Virginia Tech falls silent to honor its dead

BLACKSBURG, Virginia (CNN) — Bells tolled Friday at Virginia Tech to honor victims of the deadliest shooting on a U.S. college campus, and mourners, many wearing orange and maroon, bowed their heads, embraced and held hands in a moment of silence.

A Profile of the NCPA BACKGROUND:
There are several Pakistani-American organizations across the United States that are doing a good job in their own way and in their areas of action. But, most of these organizations are committed to Pakistan’s domestic politics while neglecting pertinent issues of the Pakistani-American community in the United States. NCPA aims to bring a paradigm shift in our attitude by dedicating our energy toward the all development of the community. The Pakistani-American community is a vibrant ethnic group—about 1,000,000 in numbers–with a variety of issues of its own.
VISION:
The vision of the NCPA is to develop an organization in the nation’s capital that serves Pakistani- Americans and other common Pakistani organizations by sharing resources for public education and media relations.

MISSION STATEMENT:
The National Council of Pakistani Americans (NCPA) is incorporated in the District of Columbia as a nonprofit corporation with express purpose to “provide a national structure within which Pakistani Americans may express and act upon their shared concerns, promote, encourage and foster better understanding, in the United States, of political, economic, and cultural interests of the community, and encourage and foster the common good and general welfare of the people of the United States.”

1. To educate and encourage Pakistani-Americans to partake in the American political process.
2. To enhance and progress the empowerment of Pakistani-Americans at all levels of American society.

3. To present true Pakistani traditions, values, history and culture to America and the West.
